Based in Leeds, Epilepsy Action is the largest member-led epilepsy organisation in Britain. It is estimated that 456,000 people in the UK suffer from some form of epilepsy, so as well as campaigning to improve awareness and services, the shop helps to raise much needed funds.
Epilepsy Action had an existing online store which they felt wasn’t performing to it’s potential. The design of the site looked dated and the process for ordering and donating through the store was convoluted causing the organization to lose sales. The main focus of the brief was simple, improve the way the site looked and simplify the shopping process.
The easy to use content management (CMS) allows epilepsy action to easily add/remove/upsell products and edit categories within the shop.
A recent addition to the site is an online booking system, allowing the site administrator to create events along with the questions that they require a user to answer before they can participate with an event.
Launched in the run up to Christmas, the shop saw a 10% increase in sales during the festive period over the previous year. Since redeveloping the shop, online donations have increased 1000%, achieved by simplifying the process of donating, further helped by the inclusion of Giftaid at the checkout which gains a further 28% for the charity when used.
Mark Morton, Ecommerce Manager at Epilepsy Action said: “Tim and the team at NMB have been a pleasure to work with. Throughout the website redesign they communicated exactly what was going on at every stage of the process. Not only that, they implemented changes to our website design that resulted in more donations during checkout and therefore more money for our charity, I would not hesitate to recommend them.”
