The Customer
Pete Cohen is a best selling author, life coach and presenter of GMTV’s Weight Loss Island. As the Weight Loss guru Pete focuses on empowering people to make long term positive changes which in turn helps them lose weight. Weight Loss Guru is an online 21 day programme and weight loss community helping people lose weight and keep it off.
The Brief
Though the content of Pete’s online programme was fantastic, the design of the website was tired and the system behind it was slow and didn’t support user access on mobile devices. In short the site had grown much quicker than expected and it was decided that with much more growth expected a new site was required. The brief included rebranding the company, redesigning the website and rebuilding and improving the online system so that it could support huge numbers of traffic all accessing the website at one time. Adding to the complexity of the brief was the fact that there were already hundreds of users on the system and thousands of blog entries by Pete and the community members.
The Work
The work on this project was two fold, firstly improving the site and secondly moving all the user data and blogs across from the old website – no easy task as it was developed in an old programming language barely used anymore. A new logo was produced along with a more appealing design, the functionality of the site was improved and the members area was made much more user friendly with more tools on offer.
The Outcome
Since the site launched there has been overwhelming positive feedback from the members, an increase in search engine rankings due to cleaner code and an even stronger community of users supporting each other to lose weight. Behind the scenes there is a wealth of indepth reporting allowing Pete and his team to see key metrics to help them support their users even better than before.
